Faikon Ball 'Yuan' SM/TIOS is a wearable, super cute micro-miniature that is probably the world’s smallest hybrid yellow Cattleya. Compact plants reach a maximum height of 4 inches tall! Capable of blooming up to 3-4 orange to yellow crystalline-textured flowers about 2" across, at least twice a year. Start a new fashion statement and trend by wearing it as a boutonnière—not just for weddings or proms. Your friends will be amazed and impressed! The clone ‘Yuan’ received a Silver Medal at the Taiwan International Orchid Show in 2019. The pod parent, Slc. Candy Ball is Slc. Maricana x C. coccinea. Crossing it with S. cernua brought the size down while retaining the general shape and color of Slc. Candy Ball. The genetic composition of this hybrid is 50% S. cernua, 31.25% S. coccinea, 12.5% C. aurantiaca, and 6.25% L. crispata. Note that Slc. Faikon Ball 'Yuan' SM/TIOS is also known as Cattlianthe (abbreviated Ctt.) Faikon Ball 'Yuan' SM/TIOS because the crispata, coccinea, and cernua species in its ancestry are now classified as Cattleya, and C. aurantiaca is now classified as Gurianthe. The C. aurantiaca in the background gives this hybrid weather tolerance.
