Phalaenopsis tetraspis f. livid 'Blue Prince ' MC2666
We are excited to introduce this exclusive new black-blue-colored strain Phal. tetraspis fma. livida from Prince Orchids (Taiwan). Livida is a Latin word meaning "discolored by bruises". Not all the Phal. tetraspis f. livida are the same. The strain ‘Blue Prince’ is very vigorous and extraordinary. These plants produce 2 – 3 spikes as first blooming seedlings in 2.5-inch pots! It can hold 4 flowers at once, where other strains of Phal. tetraspis fma. livida hold up to 2 and rarely 3 flowers. Plants have a multiple spike habit, long-lasting, waxy flowers, with a wonderful scent (some have described as resembling Lilly of the Valley). This is by far the best Phal. tetraspis we have grown and award quality too! Phal. tetraspis is native to the Andaman Islands, the Nicobar Islands, and northwestern Sumatra. Its natural habitat is the hot and wet jungles at elevations near sea level. Phal. tetraspis is a free bloomer, producing good size fragrant flowers, up to 8 flowers on each tall, branching, upright inflorescence held well above the foliage. It is a compact plant and vigorous grower and can begin blooming on young small plants. It has a multiple spike habit—flowers will bloom from old spikes for several years while new spikes are forming, so it will flower for a very long period. Do not cut the spike unless it is dry and yellow. It is a sequential bloomer, having up to 2 flowers alternately on either side of the inflorescence at any one time. It can be grown either mounted or in a pot. Tall spikes may need to be staked if potted. Water and fertilize regularly. During the hot summer months mounted plants may need daily watering. Do not let it get too dry. Phal. tetraspis thrives in high humidity, warm temperatures, and good air circulation. Can be grown on a bright windowsill or underlights or in an orchid cabinet. Highly recommended for Phal species collectors and lovers of fragrant orchids. #phal #species #newstrain #exciting #intriguing #fragrant #speciesvigor #compact #vigorousgrower #multispike #longlasting #waxy #pot #mount #windowsill #underlights #orchidcabinet #freebloomer #awardquality
