Paphiopedilum (abbreviated Paph.) Ariel is a primary hybrid between Paph. haynaldianum and Paph. bellatulum, registered by W.C. Clark in 1899.
We gave this hybrid a modern remake by using the alba form of Paph. haynaldianum with exciting results. This multi-floral Paph is are more compact and very free blooming for type. We can expect up to 4 flowers per inflorescence on a mature plant. Flowers last for a long time. These plants are perfect for beginners as they are easy to grow and flower. Excellent for under lights, on a window sill, or in an orchid cabinet.
Paphs detest soggy growing medium; pot in well-draining media. Grow them in bright light and warm temperature with high humidity and good air circulation. As with all Paphs, its roots are sensitive to salt buildup from excess fertilizer which causes leaf tips to turn brown. It is a good practice to flush the medium with fresh, clean water once a month and repot Paphs in fresh media every year. Definitely deserving of inclusion in any orchid collection, large or small!
