The hybrid was made and registered by Mr. Donchanda of Thailand whom I have known for the past twenty years. We acquired this extraordinary clone and did a limited tissue- culture propagation as we love the compact growths with large flower with contrasting flare. The pod parent, Rlc. Yen Twentyfour Carat, was breed by Yen Orchids of Taiwan, known for their yellow and art shape Cattleya breeding. The pollen parent, C. Mari's Song, was bred from world renowned Suwada Orchid Nursery of Japan. It has standard pink Cattleya, C. Irene Finney, as a parent, which was bred for the cut flower market in the old days.
Rlc. Rungnapha Fancy 'FANGtastic' can flower in spring and fall for us in Southern California with spring being the best flowering. Plants can carry up to four 6-inch flowers per inflorescence. The intense exotic fragrance is a bonus to this amazing compact clone. Diamond-dusted floral texture with very firm substance means long-lasting flowers.
