Description

This is an interesting intergeneric hybrid made with Vanda Wai Ron and Rhynchostylis coelestis. Vanda Wai Ron (V. vietnamica x V. miniatum), is a miniature that produces sprays of yellow-orange flowers. Rhynchostylis coelestis is found in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam in dry lowland forests and savanna-like woodlands at elevations of up 2,300 feet (700 m). It is a small sized, cool to hot growing monopodial epiphyte with a stem carrying several, strap-like, fleshy, alternate leaves. The inflorescence carries many, waxy, fragrant, citrus-scented flowers occurring in the summer and fall.

This hybrid, called a Vandachostylis, is a micro-miniature plant flowering in 2.5-inch pot. It can flower more than once a year when mature. Cute as a button and very fragrant, it is a perfect for growing on a windowsill, under lights or in an orchid case (with good air movement). Give intermediate to warm conditions, bright indirect light, good humidity, and air movement. It can be grown in a small pot or mounted. An excellent candidate for growing in a terrarium or orchid case, with good air movement.
