NF2264 , Schoenorchid fragrans
Possibly the smallest orchid species you’ll ever see in our nursery, this micro-miniature species, Schoenorchis fragrans, is endemic to India, Thailand and China ! A warm to intermediate growing member of the Vandaceous family, it produces short pendulous, often branching, spikes bearing multitudes of 1/8” to ¼” flowers that open in succession beginning in the spring. With a leaf span of under 2”, it can produce up to 20 lightly fragrant bright pink flowers on each inflorescence and can produce multiple basal keikis when fully mature. We love their presentation when grown mounted on these specially designed clay leaves, soaking the “leaves” once a week to fully saturate them with abundant moisture for the plant, and then misting the plant in between soakings depending on humidity levels. A perfect fit for any collection, large or small, and a delight to grow !
