Description  more details

Phragmipedium (abbreviated Phrag.) QF Aloha is an incredible complex Phrag. hybid with the species longifolium, dalessandroi, and kovachii in its background. The pod parent, Phrag. QF Naukana Kealoha, is Phrag. Incan Treasure x longfolium var. gracilis (Phrag. Incan Treasure is Phrag. kovachii x Phrag. longifolium). The genetic composition of Phrag. QF Naukana Kealoha is 75% Phrag. longifolium and 25% Phrag. kovachii. The pollen parent, Phrag. Nicholle Tower, is Phrag. dalessandroi × Phrag. longifolium. Phrag. QF Aloha has a triple dose of Phrag. longfolium, which contributes to its compact size, robust growth, ease of culture, and increased flower count. The Phrag. longifolium parent also gives this cross a long flowering period; it is a sequential bloomer that blooms and blooms, and it is common for mature plants to bloom for three months or more. The genetic composition of Phrag. QF Aloha is 62.5% Phrag. longifolium, 25% Phrag. dalessandroi, and 12.5% Phrag. kovachii. Phrag. QF Aloha is an excellent choice for beginners or someone new to Phrags. It is is very compact and manageable, and easily grown on a windowsill or under lights, sitting in a saucer of an inch or two of water. Flower color can vary with temperature; color will be darker if grown cooler. Note: it is normal for Phrags to expel its flower when it is done blooming while the flower is still in good shape.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
