Pholidota . imbricata , NF2651
This seed grown strain is the Philippine variety of the unusual species, which is more compact.
Pholidota imbricata, commonly known as the rattlesnake orchid or necklace orchid, is a clump-forming epiphyte or lithophyte with crowded pseudobulbs. Each pseudobulb has a single pleated, leathery leaf and up to 60 fragrant, white, cream-colored or greenish, cup-shaped flowers in two ranks along a wiry flowering stem. There is a large, papery bract at the base of each flower.
Plants can be grown in a pot or hanging basket in a well-draining medium, cool to warm temperatures in partial shade to moderate lighting (no direct sun). Water and fertilize regularly during the summer. Maintain even moisture and high humidity. Constant air movement is also important. Cease fertilizer and gradually reduce water in the winter. Gradually increase watering as new roots begin to show.
Can be grown on a windowsill or under lights. Very easy to grow and flower. Recommended for species collectors and anyone looking for something out of the ordinary.
