Phal. schilleriana (" Prince ' x " Purple Queen') , NF2965
This new strain of Phal. schilleriana comes from Mr. Yang Yang of Prince Orchids of Taiwan. It is one of the extraordinary new strains to come out of his breeding program that he described during his presentation at the 2023 PhalFanatics Symposium.
Phal. schilleriana is a remarkable species from the Philippines, famous for its long, branching inflorescence adorned with dozens of soft pink fragrant flowers and distinctive markings on its leaves.
The pod parent, Phal. schilleriana ‘Prince’, originates from a wild strain of the species and will improve the flower count in the hybrid. The pollen parent, Phal. schilleriana ‘Purple Queen’, originates from a selfing of Phal. schilleriana f. purpurata 'Ma #2' AM/AOS. It not only has an impressive 9 cm size, but also a deep saturated color and very strong fragrance.
This newly created strain will be a new color type and possibly set a new standard for Phal. schilleriana. We expect branching inflorescence with an abundance of bright and cheerful pink flowers, sweet fragrance, and excellent species vigor. The leaves have marble markings on the top of the leaves with deep purple on the underside. Its abundant flowers make an excellent cascading waterfall effect for hanging basket or mounting—a truly magnificent display. If growing in a pot, we recommend staking the spikes to support the weight of the flowers. It can be grown under lights or on a windowsill. Easy to grow and a reliable bloomer. Don’t miss this opportunity to get this exciting new strain. Highly recommended for Phal lover, beginner, species collector, and collector of fragrant orchids.
