Phal. pulcherrima 'FANGtastic Peloric' , MC2174
Formerly known as Doritis pulcherrima var. buyssoniana, Phal. buyssoniana, is found in Thailand and Vietnam in lowland forests at elevations up to 900 meters (2,952 feet), growing along the river beds in sandy soils under the shade of trees and shrubs. Phal. buyssoniana is a robust, small sized, terrestrial plant with stiffly erect 3-ft tall inflorescences, producing 10 or more rose-pink flowers. This species has been found to be tetraploid. It is similar in appearance to Phal. pulcherrima, but it has larger flowers, larger leaves and longer inflorescences. These attractive features create a high demand for the species.
Our exclusive clone, 'FANGtastic Peloric', is a chance peloric spore from hundreds of seedlings that we flowered in 1990. It is a very stable peloric for type. We performed a very limited micro-division propagation in the lab to ensure that the quality of peloric flowers is to true to type.
These easy to grow plants are perfect for beginners. Grow these plants in bright indirect light and warm temperatures. Watering thoroughly and allowing the media to dry before watering is ideal. During the growth period, keep moist but not wet. Humidity levels of 55 – 60 % should to be maintained. The potting media should be well draining. Plants prefer to be potted snugly, not over potted. Can be grown in a pot on a windowsill or under lights. Highly recommended. The last time we offered this clone was 6 years ago. Limited quantity. Do not miss this opportunity.
