This is an adorable novelty hybrid Phal. created by Yaphon Orchids of Taiwan. The pod parent, Phal. Chienlung Sweetheart, is an excellent yellow novelty hybrid Phal. The pollen parent, Phal. gigantea, improves the flower shape, imparts fragrance, heavy substance, and also gives it the spots that are characteristic of Phal. gigantea. Phal. gigantea does not dominate the leaf size, making this hybrid compact and manageable. This hybrid is heat tolerant, thanks to the Phal. gigantea parent. A perfect outdoor plant for hot climates that have frost-free winters with temperatures above 50°F. The flowers are very fragrant and long lasting. This plant has a multiple spike habit. Flower spikes remain green and will rebloom for several years. It is sequential flowering, blooming one after another on either side of the spike. It can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights. The genetic composition of this hybrid is 50.0% Phal. gigantea, 25.0% Phal. amboinensis, 15.63% Phal. micholitzii, 6.25% Phal. mariae, and 3.13% Phal. violacea. With a very round and full flower shape, this hybrid will make a good foundation for a novelty Phal. breeding program.
