NF2378 Phal. YangYang Black Grape (Haur Jih Fancy ‘Red Lantern’ x violacea f. indigo) , NF2378
We are thrilled to offer this exclusive USA release Phal. YangYang Black Grape from Mr. Yang Yang of Prince Orchids. Mr. Yang Yang is an outstanding hybridizer in Taiwan, producing countless, fabulous, awe-inspiring novelty Phalaenopsis hybrids. His most popular and sensational hybrids include Phal. YangYang Blue Dragonfly and Phal. YangYang Blueberry. His use of Phal. gigantea f. alba 'Prince' in breeding is groundbreaking. You can’t go wrong with any of his crosses. This population is grown from seed--not a clone.
The pod parent, Phal. Haur Jih Fancy ‘Red Lantern’ (Item #MC2290), is arguably the best novelty red Phal in the world at this time, with a deep ruby-red color, waxy substance, diamond-dusted texture, with an amazing fragrance. The pollen parent, Phal. violacea f. indigo, is the sensational indigo color form of the remarkable species. From this hybrid we expect tall, upright, sturdy spikes with good flower count of really saturated, dark black-red, waxy, long-lasting flowers; sweet fragrance; sequential blooms; and multiple spike habit. Sequential bloomer means that flowers bloom one after another alternately on either side of the spike. Multiple spike habit means it is capable of giving a long-lasting display, as previously flowered spikes remain green for several years producing even more buds and flowers while simultaneously creating additional new flower spikes. Do not cut the flower spike unless it is brown and dry. Can be grown either on a windowsill or under lights. A must have for any modern novelty Phal breeding program. Highly recommended for lovers of novelty Phals and fragrant orchids. With these exceptional parents, we expect awards from this cross.
