Phal. Bronze Maiden ( Silver Leaf ) (' Platinum ' x ' Sterling Silver ') , NF2715
Phal. Bronze Maiden is one of our most popular and highly sought after hybrid with unique, glossy, silver leaves—highly unusual for a phalaenopsis. We remade this cross selecting two of our best silver leaf Phal. Bronze Maiden from an earlier cross as parents. This seed-grown sibling cross improves the silver color of the leaves.
Our earlier cross of Phal. Bronze Maiden (Item #NF723) was made using the 'Silver Leaves' cultivar of Phal. schilleriana paired with a very dark 'Black' cultivar of Phal. mannii. We were delighted with wonderful range of art shade color and scented flowers, however, only 20% had silver/shiny leaves with fine pepper spots. The rest had strong influence from the regular Phal. schilleriana.
The entire population of this new strain is vigorous and produced remarkable, glossy, silver leaves. The flower color will be similar to the earlier cross—art shade that can range from yellow, orange, pink, or blush with spotting. Flowers are delightfully fragrant. The silver leaf strain happens to be a slow grower. We took the time to grow this batch 3 – 4 years to maturity. This new Silver Leaf strain will not stay too long at our nursery. Once we are sold out, if we decide to remake it, it will be another 5 – 6 years before we see the next generation. Highly recommended. Don't wait! Buy it now.
