This remarkable remake comes from the premier Paph hybridizer Mr. Hung Sheng Bear of Taiwan. Mr. Bear is the past president of Taiwan Paphiopedilum Society (TPS). He has the best Paphiopedilum species collection in Taiwan, if not all of Asia. This gorgeous award quality remake was created using superior parents. The pod parent, Paph. haynaldianum 'Bear' SM/TPS, was awarded the Silver Medal (SM) from the TPS. The pollen parent, Pa ph. lowii 'Malaysian Princess', is an outstanding clone from Malaysia. Paph. haynaldianum reduces the size of plant and passes on 45 degree upright foliage. Paph. Toni Semple is a multi-floral Paph that is very free blooming, producing 4—6 showy, long-lasting flowers when mature that are 6 inches wide.
Paphs detest soggy growing medium; pot in well-draining media. Grow these plants in intermediate light and warm temperature with high humidity and good air circulation. Water twice per week for best results. As with all Paphs, its roots are sensitive to salt buildup from excess fertilizer which causes leaf tips to turn brown. It is a good practice to flush the medium with fresh, clean water once a month and repot Paphs in fresh media every year. Easy to grow and flower, these plants are perfect for beginners.
