Paph. (hangianum 'Jade' x delenatii var. alba 'Hsiao'), NF1922
Paph. Nathaniel's KY, registered in 2011, is a primary hybrid between Paph. hangianum and Paph. leucochilum. This population is an exciting remake using an excellent Paph. hangianum having very clear color and very round flower shape and compact leaves. We received this strain from a good friend in Japan where the leaves of a plant are more important than the flower. Paph. leucochilum ‘Red Bean’ has nice dark spots on the flower, which really influence the fine spots and color fusion on the petals. This free flowering strain is one of the best we have seen of this hybrid. The leaves are very attractive. The long-lasting flower is larger than the leaves thanks to the large flower size of Paph. hangianum.
As with all Paphs, its roots are sensitive to salt buildup from excess fertilizer which causes leaf tips to turn brown. It is a good practice to flush the medium with fresh, clean water once a month and repot Paphs in fresh media every year. Can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights. We grow these plants alongside our novelty Phals and they love warm days and warm nights. Unlike its species parents, these plants do not need cold period to flower. An absolute must-have for any Paph. collection. Very Highly Recommended!
