Paph. Hung Sheng Brown Hair (Yang-Ji Apple x sanderisnaum ' Bear 115.5 cm ') , NF3052
Paphiopedilum (abbreviated Paph.) Hung Sheng Brown Hair was registered by Hung Sheng Orchids (Taiwan) in 2018. This population is a remake using his Paph. sanderianum with 115 cm sepal petal length. Paph. sanderianum sepal petal ranges from 70—90 cm in length. 115 cm has been the record for Taiwan and might be the longest sepal petal of Paph. sanderianum. The pod parent, Paph. Yang-Ji Apple is Paph. philippinense x Paph. adductum var. anitum. Paph. adductum var. anitum contributes darker color and more compact leaves to its progeny.
Paphs detest soggy growing medium; pot in well-draining media. Grow them bright and warm with high humidity and good air circulation. As with all Paphs, its roots are sensitive to salt buildup from excess fertilizer which causes leaf tips to turn brown. It is a good practice to flush the medium with fresh, clean water once a month and repot Paphs in fresh media every year.
Inflorescences can carry 2 to 4 large flowers with impressively long sepal petals. Long-lasting flowers are waxy and have a heavy substance. This multi-floral hybrid is easy to grow and flower. We grow our multi-floral Paphs alongside our novelty Phals like Phal. bellina and Phal. amboinensis. A must for every Paph orchid collection! Highly recommended for the multi-floral Paph lover.
