Paph. (Golden Future ' Canary' x spicerianum ' Model ' ) , NF1098
This unnamed Paphiopedilum (abbreviated Paph.) hybrid was created by the world renowned Suwada Orchids of Japan. The pod parent, Paph. Golden Future (Paph. Stagecoach x Paph. Act Bay), is a complex Paph created and registered by Suwada in 1998. It is a large, long-lasting yellow bull-dog type Paph. The pollen parent, Paph. spicerianum 'Model', is a naturally occurring tetraploid (4N) form of this fine species, and contributes its ease of culture, fast growth, and heat tolerance.
These plants are compact and vigorous, blooming in a 3-inch pot 2—3 years out of flask. Mature plants will have multiple growths and spikes, and make a wonderful living bouquet. The long lasting flowers are large for size of plant and have heavy substance. These plants are easy to grow and are reliable bloomers. Perfect for beginners. Can be grown on a windowsill or under lights. They grow well alongside Phals as they have similar requirements.
Paphs detest soggy growing medium; pot in well-draining media. Grow them in bright light and warm temperature with high humidity and good air circulation. As with all Paphs, its roots are sensitive to salt buildup from excess fertilizer which causes leaf tips to turn brown. It is a good practice to flush the medium with fresh, clean water once a month and repot Paphs in fresh media every year.
Highly recommended. Award quality.
