Description
This pink form of the cane-like species, Den. secundum, is a hot to warm grower, endemic to Thailand, Vietnam, Sumatra and Borneo ! It can be semi-deciduous or deciduous depending on its growing conditions, producing erect to semi-pendulous canes and flowering most often in the spring, although given the proper culture, it will flower again in the fall. Flowering occurs on the previous year’s mature canes from 5” inflorescences produced near the apex of its leafless canes, the spike producing up to 50 small waxy fragrant ½” flowers. This species prefers Cattleya conditions and does require lighter watering and fertilizing during the winter months until the onset of new growth in the spring. Due to its pendulous growth habit, this species is best grown mounted or if potted, on a tilt, for the best flowering display. Highly Recommended !
PLEASE NOTE:
Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
