Formerly known as Den. ejerii or Den. capillipes var. elegans, this species is now known as Den. braianense.
This small sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic species occurs in India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Laos, Vietnam at elevations from 800 to 1500 meters in exposed areas in deciduous forests.
Plants have short fat 4-inch spindle-shaped pseudobulbs (canes) that carry several thin 2-inch leaves, numerous semi-pendant spikes carrying 4 - 8 blooms are produced in spring from the nodes near the apex of seasonally deciduous canes, the rounded 1.5-inch fragrant flowers are a rich golden yellow and long lasting.
Grow these in very bright indirect light, water and fertilize regularly letting dry between watering. They can tolerate warm, intermediate to cool temperature (45°F min. to 98°F max.). It is tolerant of extremes, favoring warm. Plants require a slight winter rest. Allow longer period between watering but do not let dry for long periods of time. This plant grows best mounted, but can also be grown in hanging basket or pot. Can be grown outdoors year round in areas where winters are mild and frost free.
