Den. Touch of Gold (gouldii x johannis) , NF2434
Den. Touch of Gold is a primary hybrid with Den. gouldii and Den. johannis, originated by H&R Nursery in 1996. This extraordinary dendrobium is one of the best primary hybrids with Den. gouldii. It produces sprays of small golden brown and yellow flowers with spiral, corkscrew petals. It blooms in the summer, with waxy, glossy flowers lasting several weeks. These plants are heat tolerant and can re-bloom from the old canes. This type of Dendrobium is hard-cane and evergreen—it does not require a rest period. Grow in warm to hot temperature, in medium to high light, good air movement, and moderate humidity. Roots and potting medium should be allowed to dry out between thorough watering. While a dry rest is not needed, plants can be kept on the dry side during the cooler months. Plants may be grown potted or mounted. However, we recommend potting to better accommodate the large stature of the plant. Use a medium bark mix and choose a pot that will keep the plant snug. Repot only during spring and summer when plants are actively growing. Can be grown on a windowsill or under lights.
