Ascocentrum (abbreviated Asctm.) ampullaceum, now classified as Vanda ampullaceum, is an adorable miniature species that puts on a magnificent display of blooms in late spring/early summer that envelops the whole plant! In this seed-grown population, we bred a Pink variety with an Ember (red) variety to create an exciting new strain. These plants are super vigorous and compact—it is producing 2 spikes on first-bloom seedlings in a 2-inch pot. An abundance of 1.75-cm flowers are born per spike, with long-lasting, diamond-dusted texture that makes them glisten like jewels

Well-grown specimens can produce up to 8 spikes so tall that it practically eclipses the plant. It can be grown into impressive specimens in a small space. Plants of this species are ideal for windowsill or light culture. Under high-light growing conditions, Asctm. ampullaceum produces numerous freckles of purple pigment in its leaves. This species grows shadier than other species of Asctm. Give plants intermediate to warm temperatures, good humidity and air circulation, moderate light, somewhat filtered or diffused (no direct sun). We grow and flower this species alongside Phalaenopsis. Water heavily when plants are actively growing (late spring through early autumn), gradually reducing after new growths mature. A rewarding plant that is easy to grow and flower. Highly recommended for beginners, growers with limited space, and collectors of miniature orchids. A welcome addition to any orchid collection.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
