Phal. intermedia var. formosa (intermedia ' yellow lip ' x intermedia ' canary ') , NF556
Phal. intermedia is found in the Philippines as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte that blooms in the summer on a branched, gradually extending, to 12-inch long, branching inflorescence with up to 8 eye-catching flowers. This species is a natural hybrid between Phal. aphrodite and Phal. equestris. We are proud to be the first to introduce this rare yellow-lipped strain of the species to North America. These plants are the result of a sibling cross of two yellow lipped strains, which are more stable in presenting the trait. This extraordinary species would be very valuable in a breeding program. A “must have” for any Phal species collection. It can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights.
