Description
Endemic to Brazil, this Cattleya species is capable of producing up to four large 4.5-6” flowers per inflorescence! As a medium size unifoliate, its pseudobulbs each produce a single heavy substance leaf to accommodate the wet and dry seasons it experiences in nature. Lost to cultivation for over 70 years after its discovery in 1818, only to be found again in another location in Brazil, it has since been accepted as the “type species” for large-flowered Cattleyas. A strong and free-flowering grower, it also produces an amazing fragrance and is highly prized by all Cattleya growers. Since this is a seedling population, a small percentage may flower soft pink, after its pollen parent, rather than the alba form of its pod parent. No matter what its color, it belongs in every serious Cattleya collection and is Very Highly Recommended!
PLEASE NOTE:
Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
