Zygonisia (abbreviated Zns) is an intergeneric hybrid with Aganisia and Zygopetalum. Zns. Snow Bird 'Kaila' HCC/AOS is an adorable and unusual cross between Aganisia cyanea and Zygopetalum Jumpin Jack. The clone ‘Kaila’ was awarded a Highly Commended Certificate (HCC) from the American Orchid Society. The pod parent, Aganisia cyanea, is native to Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Brazil. Aganisia cyanea is also known as the “Dark Blue Aganisia”. The color blue is quite rare among the orchids. The flowers have a metallic appearance. The pollen parent, Zygopetalum Jumpin Jack, is a compact growing Zygopetalum hybrid with hyacinth scented flowers that can bloom twice a year with flowers that can last up to 2 months. Zygopetalum Jumpin Jack has dark brown petals with green edges and a dark blue lip. Zns. Snow Bird 'Kaila' HCC/AOS is very compact growing, temperature tolerant, and has long lasting fragrant flowers. Perfect for growing on a windowsill or under lights.
