Description & Details

Renanthera (abbreviated Ren.) Memoria Robin Musolino is a primary hybrid of Ren. bella and Ren. imschootiana. Here, two named clones were used to create this amazing hybrid. Renanthera originates from Southeast Asia, and is closely related to Vanda. The pod parent, Ren. imschootiana 'Lava Queen', is a large-sized species that produces remarkable inflorescences that can have over a hundred red showy orange to red flowers with extremely large lateral sepals, and blooms mainly from March to July. The pollen parent, Ren. bella 'Ember', is a compact species with big sprays of star-shaped spectacularly intense dark red flowers with red velvet spots and blooms from December to March. Ren. Memoria Robin Musolino is a beautiful combination of these two stunning species. This moderate sized plant blooms from late winter to spring; flowers are long-lasting.

Cultural requirements for Renanthera is very much similar to Vanda. Renanthera require year round warm temperature conditions (65-80°F) and lots of bright light to grow well and bloom regularly. Renanthera, like Vanda, have extremely long roots that are sensitive to rotting, and therefore grow best in open baskets without any substrate, regular watering throughout the whole year. If growing potted, use coarse well-draining media.

Renanthera are heavy feeders and require balanced fertilizer especially during the active growth period, from March until October. Due to its compact size, it can be grown on a windowsill or under lights. It makes a perfect companion plant for Cattleya, Oncidium, or Dendrobium. Highly Recommended.
