The pod parent Phal. Nobby's Green Eagle ‘Montclair' AM/AOS, is our own awarded clone ‘Montclair,’ which is an extraordinary bloomer with multi-spiking habit. The pollen parent, Phal. Chang Maw Jade (Phal. Yungho Gelb Canary x Phal. Yungho Gelblitz), is a novelty green Phal. with exceptional color and shape.
This marvelous clone was selected for its compact size and robust growth habit. The mother plant had 4 spikes growing in a 3-inch pot and can hold 3—4 flowers on the spike at a time. The long-lasting flowers open with a light green jade picotee (Patti Lee loved jade) that turns to a delightful creamy yellow when mature with marvelous flower substance and amazing fragrance. The vigorous plants are producing spikes in a 2.5" pot with 4" leaf span! Plants produce multiple spikes that remain green for a long time and can rebloom for several years. Do not cut the spike unless it is brown and dry. It grows well on a bright windowsill or under lights or in an orchid cabinet. Easy to grow and bloom makes this plant excellent for beginners.
Only a limited number of micro-division stem propagation was performed (i.e., small batch). This novelty hybrid Phal is a welcome addition to any collection. We have high expectations for flower quality awards for this clone. Highly recommended.
