Description & Details

The Pod parent, Phal. Nobby’s Green Eagle 'Montclair', is Phal. Gelblieber × Phal. Nobby's Fox. Phal. Nobby’s Green Eagle 'Montclair' produces abundant spikes of extremely fragrant yellow-green flowers, the green color intensifies in cooler and brighter conditions! A compact grower with relatively short spikes; its long-lasting, waxy, green flowers are outstanding with amazing shape, form, and substance.

The pollen parent, Phal. Jennifer Palermo 'Blue Hawaii', is Phal. tetraspis var. coerulea x Phal. violacea var. coerulea, an amazingly attractive blue variety. The genetic composition of this cross is 25% Phal tetraspis, 25% Phal violacea, 15.6% Phal. amboinensis, 15.6% Phal. micholitzii, 12.5% Phal. violacea, and 6.3% Phal. venosa.

We expect this highly unusual cross will be very free flowering, have compact growth habit, extremely fragrant flowers with excellent shape and substance. It should continue to flower from old spikes for several years in addition to blooming on new spikes each year, so don’t remove the spike until it has dried and turned brown. It is sequential bloomer, so flowers bloom alternately on either side of the spike. It does not need a winter rest, so keep warm all year round. It can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights. This cross is showing its species vigor from Phal. tetraspis from the pollen parent. Most of first-blooming seedlings have 2 spikes! The flower color can range from green, blue, blush, pastel green, to any combination under the sun. No two seedlings will be alike, which is the excitement of buying seedlings as opposed to clones. Buy two for fun and compare!

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
