Created in 2011, this cross was named in honor of our good friend Lester Poole, who is a gentle giant (he’s by our estimate 6’3”). Phal. Lester Poole was a new direction in breeding multi-floral miniature candy-striped Phalaenopsis!
Producing a multitude of flat, fully-round flowers on multiple branching spikes, its well-defined candy-striped pattern is finished on each flower with a broad white picotee—each flower perfectly accented with a broad red lip. This little hybrid is a great improvement over its pod parent, Phal. Sogo Vivien, with the flowers held well above the foliage for a delightful display. The pod parent, Phal. Brother Matou Tris, intensifies the striping and lip, and adds a more readily branching habit. We rarely repeat tissue culture of our plants, but this one worth it as there aren’t many good miniature candy-striped Phals. Flowers are very long lasting and often can bloom again in the summer thanks to amazing influence of Phal. Sogo Vivien. A must-have for collectors of miniature orchids.
