Description & Details

What is old is new again! Phal. Harriettiae was the first man-made Phalaenopsis hybrid, registered in 1887 by John Veitch. It is a hybrid of Phal. amabilis and Phal. violacea. This new strain is a remake using Phal. amabilis var. Fuga having compact jade green leaves very similar to Phal. aphrodite var. formosanumPhal. violacea f. indigo ‘Jiaho’ SM/TOGA is considered the best indigo strain with amazing species vigor and high flower count.

Each of these seedlings will be different and unique. Looking for compact plants with improved size for blue flowers and increased flower count. Some pink/purple flowers might result from the cross too. Phal. violacea f. indigo ‘Jiaho’ SM/TOGA will influence the flower substance and also impart its sweet fragrance to some of the progeny. It has a multiple spike habit—flowers will bloom from old spikes for several years while new spikes are forming, so it will flower for a very long period. Do not cut the spike unless it is dry and yellow.

It can be grown either mounted or in a pot.  Water and fertilize regularly.  Can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights or in an orchid cabinet. Highly recommended for history buffs.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
