Oncostelopsis (abbreviated Osp.) Brazilian Sun is an Oncidium intergeneric hybrid that was created and registered by Mauna Kea Orchids in 2014.
The pod parent, Oncidopsis Pacific Waters (Onc. Issaku Nagata x Mitoniopsis Hawaiian Water), produces a multitudes of flowers on compact spikes. Onc. Issaku Nagata (Onc. leucochilum x Onc. fuscatum), is a weather tolerant primary hybrid.
Osp. Brazillian Sun 'Rio' is very easy to grow and can tolerate a wide range of conditions from cool to hot. Like other hybrids of this type (such as Odontocidium or Colmanara), it can bloom more than once a year. The amazing clone ‘Rio’ is among the best of this Oncidium intergeneric hybrid for its ability to produce an abundance of flowers and excellent for growing under lights and on window sills. Perfect plant for beginners as it is a reliable bloomer. Highly recommended.
