Description & Details

A delightful new hybrid of two extremely popular parents from the oncidium family! This new clone of Oncidesa Hwuluduen Chameleon (syn. Bapticidium Hwuluduen Chameleon) is a patented variety from Hwuluduen Orchids, Taiwanese breeder of some of the most amazing oncidium alliance hybrids.

The pod parent, Onc. Pupukea Sunset (formerly Mtdm. Pupukea Sunset), is Onc. cheirophorum x Milt. warscewiczii (now reclassified as Onc. fuscatum)—very popular fragrant, floriferous, and easy to grow hybrid. The pollen parent, Gomesa echinata (formerly Baptistonia echinata), is a compact and very floriferous species from Brazil with small yellow flowers with a brown lip that is best grown mounted.

A compact grower, Oncda. Hwuluduen Chameleon 'Golden Oriole', is much easier to grow than its species parent, giving us an abundance of fragrant, bright yellow flowers with the well-defined accent of mahogany spotting on its lip and petals. From both parents come its readily branching habit and compact growth. A free-bloomer, it can flower twice a year, once in spring and again in fall. Perfect for growing on windowsill or under lights in intermediate conditions. New and not to be missed!
