Oncidiopsis (abbreviated Oip.) Onolicious was created and registered by Mauna Kea Orchids in 2014. It is an intergeneric hybrid between Oncidium and Miltoniopsis. Onolicious, a Hawaiian pidgin word often used to describe an exceptionally tasty dish or food ( i.e., doubly delicious). It originates from the combination of ’ono (which means delicious in Hawaiian) and delicious.
Oip. Onolicious ‘Vivid’ resembles a miniature Miltoniopsis. This amazing, compact plant produces eye-catching, wonderful, vibrant, red, pansy-like flowers that emit a sweet floral scent in the morning as temperatures begin to warm. Crystalline flowers have a nice waterfall pattern on the lip, and lasts 4 to 6 weeks. Can produce two inflorescences per pseudobulb when mature. Plants have warmth tolerance and are easier to grow than Miltoniopsis, which prefer cool to intermediate temperature. Grow in medium light levels as for Phalaenopsis and keep slightly moist between watering. We recommend growing them in sphagnum moss. Can be grown on a windowsill or under lights. We only have a limited number of these in our greenhouse. First bloom seedlings are flowering on young plants. Don’t miss out on these adorable plants. Highly recommended.
