Description & Details

This new seed grown strain of Encyclia (abbreviated Enc.) cordigera var. rosea with two phenomenal, awarded parents is considered the best rose variety of the species. With these superior parents, we expect an abundance of dark purple flowers with a rose-pink lip on a very long inflorescence.

Enc. cordigera is a spectacular species found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia and Peru as a medium sized, bifoliate. It is a hot to warm growing epiphyte at elevations up to 2,950 feet (900 m) with squat, round pseudobulbs, carrying 2 leaves that blooms in late spring (often around Mothers’ Day) on a 24-inch (60 cm) long inflorescence carrying many strongly fragrant honey to vanilla scented, heavily textured flowers. Grow these plants alongside Cattleya as they require similar requirements. Highly recommended for species collector and lovers of fragrant orchids. Award quality.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
