Description & Details

O-M-G! This is the rarest of all dendrobium farmeri—a petaloid album! White (album) forms of orchids are quite rare in nature, but this particular album is also a petaloid—meaning the lip is shaped like a petal, making this form of the species extremely rare. The plant is a very compact and vigorous grower.

Den. farmeri is found in the eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Malaysia in evergreen lowland forests and primary montane forests at elevations of 500 to 3,300 feet. Up to 8-inch long inflorescence arise from the nodes near the tip of leafless and leafed canes in spring. The inflorescences are densely covered with flowers. It will bloom on old and new canes putting a magnificent display. It prefers some shade and heavy watering during period of active growth. For best flower results stop fertilizing in fall and keep drier and cooler in the winter season. Resume regular watering and fertilizer in the spring.
