Den. Chocolate Chip is a fantastic compact, miniature Dendrobium hybrid from the Latouria section. Another addition to our wearble orchid collection, it is an easy grower and very carefree. It is a hybrid between the famous miniature Den. Micro Chip and the miniature species Den. normabyense. The pod parent, Den. Micro Chip, is a primary hybrid of Den. atroviolacea and Den. abberans. It is an adorable miniature that is floriferous and easy to grow. Den. normabyense, a charming miniature species, is likened to be a miniature Den. atroviolacea.
Den. Chocolate Chip has very ornamental foliage that are dark green and glossy. It produces clusters of cream colored fragrant, long-lasting flowers with spots and a magenta stripe on side lobes. The back of the flower is what makes this hybrid so unique, as it is as close to a chocolate chip cookie as an orchid could be! It can rebloom on old canes. Grow these plants in a pot, mounted, or hanging basket under lights, on a windowsill, or in an orchid cabinet. We grow them in a well-draining bark mix, tightly potted. Highly recommended for beginners, miniature orchid collector, and growers with limited space.
