Brassocattleya (abbreviated Bc.) Morning Glory is a primary hybrid between the two Cattleya alliance species—Brassavola nodosa and Cattleya purpurata (formerly Laelia purpurata). Bc. Morning Glory was created and registered by Del-Ora in 1958. Here, we remade this classic hybrid using the best awarded clone of B. nodosa 'Susan Fuchs' FCC/AOS and the awarded clone of C. purpurata var. schusteriana 'C.H.' SM/TOGA with a deep blue color in the lip and throat against a white background.
These compact, medium-sized plants are fast growing. The elegant, long-lasting, breathtaking flowers resemble a very large Brassavola nodosa with intense blue lips and veining. Plants readily produce multiple growths with 12-inch pencil-like leaves. Quickly grows into a specimen plant. Easy to grow and flower. Perfect for beginners. Grow these plants in a pot, hanging basket, or a mount in bright light and intermediate to warm temps. Can be grown on a window sill or under lights. These can flower in fall and spring and the flowers last for about 6-8 weeks. This new strain of Bc. Morning Glory is a new twist on the classic; and extremely popular for its ease of care and reliable blooming. A welcome addition to any collection. Having superior awarded parents, we have high expectations for awards for this cross. Highly recommended.
