This adorable Brassocattleya (abbreviated Bc.) Beulah Bradeen 'Pink Diamond' is a cross between outstanding awarded clones of C. walkeriana and B. nodosa. The pod parent, C. walkeriana 'Tokyo #1' AM/AOS, is a famous clone with very good flower shape, size, and color. C. walkeriana is also famous for its strongly fragrant scent. The pollen plant, B. nodosa 'Susan Fuchs' FCC/AOS, is a fabulous clone with a First Class Certificate from the American Orchid Society, and has exceptional flower shape, size, and color. B. nodosa is famous for its sweetly scented flowers at night and for imparting beautiful big lips to its progeny. In the 'Pink Diamond' clone, the B. nodosa parent dominates the size and appearance of the leaves. The C. walkeriana parent increases the size of the flowers and gives it heavy substance and strong fragrance. Bc. Beulah Bradeen 'Pink Diamond' is very free flowering—at least twice a year, up to three times a year in warm climates where winters are frost free and nighttime temperatures are above 65°F, where it can be grown outdoors year round. It does not need a winter rest and will flower on every new mature growth. This compact plant is easy to grow and flower. It can be grown either potted or on a mount. It thrives in high light, warm temperatures, high humidity, regular water and fertilizer, and good air circulation. It makes an excellent companion to novelty Phal. as it takes similar conditions. Can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights. Very long-lasting, star shaped, flowers are soft pink and have a broad lip with striations. Highly recommended for beginners and lovers of fragrant orchids.
