Aerides (abbreviated Aer.) Korat Koki is a primary hybrid with Aer. houlletiana and Aer. lawrenceae. This population originates from a remake by Mr. Suwannaphum, who is president of the Thailand Orchid Society. Tetraploid versions of both parents were used in making this remake, which results in more compact and stockier plants than normal. There are two color forms to these plants—either purple or yellow flowers.
Aerides Korat Koki is a beautiful medium to large sized vandaceous hybrid that thrives best in warm to hot conditions year round. It produces brightly colored sprays of waxy, long-lasting flowers with heavy substance and strong, candy-like, sweet fragrance. It can bloom twice a year.
This orchid grows best in bright, indirect light with high humidity and strong air circulation. Plants can be grown bare root or mounted. We recommend growing in wooden baskets for the home since it can accommodate the growth of the plant and retain some moisture while still allowing air circulation to the roots. During the summer, daily watering is a must for plants like these grown without media. Reduce watering as the media approaches dryness during the cooler months. Fertilize regularly when the weather is warm.
