Zga. Sweet Jade 'Sweet Cheyenne' ( x ), mc1266
Zygoneria (abbreviated Zga.) is an intergeneric hybrid between the genera Zygopetalum and Neogardneria. Zga. Sweet Jade ‘Sweet Cheyenne’ was originated Hawaii and registered in 2006.
The green clone of Zga. Sweet Jade, ‘Sweet Cheyenne’, is arresting for its color contrasts and compact growth habit! Its green petals and sepals are accented with broken striations of burgundy. In contrast to this colorful backdrop, its white lip is heavily marked with rich purple veining cascading from the column. The long-lasting fragrant flowers have a heavy substance. These plants are actually quite heat tolerant (with increased air circulation). We grow it alongside our Cattleya in the intermediate to warm greenhouse.
Grow in bright, indirect light with strong air circulation and good humidity. Plants should not dry out completely—water just as the potting media starts to dry. Plants potted in a porous, well-draining mix will require more frequent watering than those potted in sphagnum moss. Water and fertilize regularly when plants are actively growing in spring and summer, and reduce water during the cooler months. These plants are easy to grow and flower, making it an excellent beginner plant. Very reward plant to grow and a welcome addition to any orchid collection.
