Description

This hybrid Phragmipedium (abbreviated Phrag.) was originally registered by the Eric Young Orchid Foundation in 2005. It has been remade by a California hybridizer with exceptional parents. The pod parent, Phrag. besseae 'Cow Palace' FCC/AOS, is one of the best Phrag. besseae strain from the Orchid Zone. The pollen parent, Phrag. Nicolle Tower, is Phrag. longifoliium x Phrag. dalessandroi. Phrag. Nicholle Tower can be in flower for up to 6 months on larger plants, and also produce branching stems. Certainly one of the longest successively flowering Phrags.

Phrag. dalesssandroi is a species similar to Phrag. besseae but with more heat tolerance. By crossing it with Phrag. bessese 'Cow Palace' FCC/AOS, it improves the flower form of Phrag. Nicolle Tower and intensifies the color. First blooming seedling is carrying 3 flowers! This is a sequential bloomer with a compact spike, making it good for growing on a windowsill or under lights. We expect good heat tolerance since it has Phrag. dalesssandroi in its background. Phrag. Millbrook is an excellent choice for beginners or someone new to Phrags. It is very compact and manageable, and free blooming. Easily grown on a windowsill or under lights, sitting in a saucer of an inch or two of water. Flower color can vary with temperature; color will be darker if grown cooler. Note: it is normal for Phrags to expel its flower when it is done blooming while the flower is still in good shape. As these plants are seedlings, each plant is unique and may differ from the photo. Highly recommended. We expect many awards from this magnificent cross.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
