We are excited to introduce this new coffee-colored strain Phal. tetraspis fma. brunneola. It is a sibling cross of two of our best clones of Phal. tetraspis fma brunneola. This strain represents a new direction in creating exotic, sunset-colored Phal. tetraspis . The flower color has been ranging from one or more coffee colored petals with blue lip, coffee spots with blue lip, and something in between. One thing for sure is they all have the blue lip and highly scented.

Phal. tetraspis is native to the Andaman Islands, the Nicobar Islands, and northwestern Sumatra. Its natural habitat is the hot and wet jungles at elevations near sea level. Phal. tetraspis is a free bloomer, producing good size fragrant flowers, up to 8 flowers on each tall, branching, upright inflorescence held well above the foliage. It is a compact plant and vigorous grower and can begin blooming on young small plants. It has a multiple spike habit—flowers will bloom from old spikes for several years while new spikes are forming, so it will flower for a very long period. Do not cut the spike unless it is dry and yellow.

It is a sequential bloomer, flowering alternately on either side of the inflorescence.

It can be grown either mounted or in a pot. Tall spikes may need to be staked if potted. Water and fertilize regularly. During the hot summer months mounted plants may need daily watering. Do not let it get too dry. Phal. tetraspis thrives in high humidity, warm temperatures, and good air circulation. Can be grown on a bright windowsill or underlights. Each one of the seedlings will be unique and different from one and other. These compact plants have very strong species vigor, producing as many as 2 – 3 long spikes as first blooming seedlings in 2.5-inch pots. Plants have a multiple spike habit, long-lasting, waxy flowers, with a wonderful scent (some have described as resembling Lilly of the Valley). Highly recommended for Phal species collectors and lovers of fragrant orchids.
