An intriguing cross of two blue (coerulea) varieties of well-known novelty hybrid Phal. that are also excellent breeders. The pod parent, Phal. Samera var. Blue, is Phal. tetraspis var. coerulea x Phal. violacea var. coerulea. Note that both parents are a coerulea strain. The pollen parent, Phal. Jennifer Palermo var. coerulea, is Phal. violacea var. indigo 'Blue Heaven’ (one of our darkest indigo) x Phal. tetraspis var. coerulea. Again, both parents are a coerulea strain. It has a quadruple dose of coerulea genes—from both sets of grandparents! The genetic composition of this hybrid is 50% Phal. violacea, 25% Phal. bellina, and 25% Phal. tetraspis. Phal. KS Samera has larger flowers than the Phal. Jennifer Palermo, and shorter, rounder leaves from the Phal. Samera influence. The Phal. violacea influence really dominates in this cross; the Phal. tetraspis influence increases the flower count and imparts the tall flower spike that holds the flowers above the foliage. This summer blooming cross is highly fragrant, disease resistant, and heat tolerant. It has a multiple spike habit, which means older spike remain green and bloom for several years while simultaneously producing new spikes that flower. It is a sequential bloomer which means it blooms consecutively on alternate sides of the spike. Do not cut the flower spike unless it is brown and dry. Can be grown on a bright windowsill or underlights. Highly recommended for collectors of blue orchids and lovers of fragrant orchids.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
