We used our prime select clone, Phal. I- Hsin Venus 'Lime', which has the fragrance of Phal. violacea as the pod parent. Phal. I-Hsin Venus is an absolute darling, fragrant, multi-floral, miniature, summer to fall bloomer carrying the sweet fragrance from the species violacea, amboinensis and venosa in its breeding background. With these strong growing species in its background, this plant is heat-tolerant and an easy grower. It produces multiple spikes, while maintaining its small size, due to the influence of Phal. equestris from I-Hsin Viola Tris. By using Phal. tetraspis f. alba as the pollen parent, we have achieved a pure uniform color (called concolor) in the hybrid. The clone ‘Sweetheart’ was selected from hundreds of seedlings for its compact growth, good multi-spiking habit (influence from Phal. tetraspis), and of course the fragrance which reminds me of a Lemon Drop cocktail.

Inflorescences remain green for several years continuing to bloom, therefore do not cut the spike unless it is brown and dry. It can be grown either mounted or in a pot.
