This adorable miniature peloric Phalaenopsis is irresistible! It was registered by Mr. Hwa-Tung Liu in 2006. Mr. Liu is the renowned breeder behind many popular and well-known miniature and micro-miniature Phal hybrids such as Phal. Liu's Cute Angel, Phal. Liu's Triprince, and Phal. Liu's Gold Coin. We believe this world class hybrid Phal. Liu's Berry 'Trinity' is his best work to date. The pollen parent, Phal. Eduardo Quisumbing, is Phal. amabilis (using the wild strain not the new 4N form) x Phal. pulcherrima var. coerula (using the peloric form). The pod parent, Phal. parishii ‘Liu's Best’, is a very select and choice clone from a breeding population derived from the wild strain of the species. Even though this hybrid only consists of three species, i.e., parishii (50%), pulcherrima (25%), and amabilis (25%), it encompasses 40 years of work. In order to maintain the true peloric form of this hybrid, we did a limited micro division and only used the natural plant hormone kinetin (from corn) in the laboratory. It is a significantly slower process in-vitro, but results in the best true-to-type of the best example of ‘Trinity.’ The plants are about 4 years out of flask. Very limited quantity. Award quality and a “must have” for any modern orchid collection and lovers of peloric orchids.
