Registered in 2008, Phal. LD's Bear King was created by Leader Orchids of Taiwan, a pioneer hybridizer of many modern novelty Phal hybrids. Phal. LD's Bear King is the one of Leader Orchids’s most famous creations, being a parent to over 200 remarkable crosses such as Phal. YangYang Grape, Phal. YangYang Spice Girls, Phal. YangYang Coral King, Phal. Yaphon In Mirror, Phal. Mituo Prince, and Phal. Mituo Gelb Eagle.
The majority of Phal. LD's Bear King clones are red/orange in color. This unique clone, ‘Golden Emperor’, is the only one with stately, waxy, long-lasting yellow/gold flowers. One amazing feature of this clone is the strong orange-blossom fragrance with fruity overtones. Vigorous, compact plants have firm jade-green leaves, produce multiple spikes, and bloom late in the season into fall/winter. Spikes remain green and continue to bloom for several years. Do not cut it unless it is brown and dry. Grows well on a bright window sill or under lights. We offered this amazing clone 5 years ago and now re-introducing it as a “Classic Novelty Phalaenopsis”.
