Norman was originally going to register this hybrid as Phal. Happy Camper, but that name was already taken, so he  named it Phal. Happy Camping instead. The pod parent, Phal. Jennifer Palermo (tetraspis x violacea), was registered in 1998. In making this hybrid, I remade Phal. Jennifer Palermo using Phal. violacea f. indigo as the pod parent and Phal. tetraspis 'C1' JC/AOS as the pollen parent. Phal. tetraspis 'C1' is known for its random red spots on petals to random petal color in red or white depending on the temperature and light.

The pollen parent, Phal. Nobby's Green Finger, is Phal. Buena Jewel x Phal. micholitzii. Phal. micholitzii is a miniature species known to wash out the color of the other parent when crossed with it. This is why some of the plants have a white background with contrasting blue spots or bars. The particular trait of each parent combined in this unusual cross has resulted in a very remarkable plant with a variety of patterns and colors. There is no bad flower in this impressive hybrid. Get more than one to compare and marvel at the wonderful variation. The amazing sweet fragrance comes from the species amboinensis , micholitzii , violacea, and tetraspis in its background.

Waxy, long-lasting flowers have an intensely sweet fragrance and heavy substance. Sequential blooming plants have a multi-spike habit and hold its flowers proudly above the leaves. Sequential bloomer means that flowers bloom one after another alternately on either side of the spike. Multiple spike habit means it is capable of giving a long-lasting display, as previously flowered spikes remain green for several years producing even more buds and flowers while simultaneously creating additional new flower spikes. Do not cut the flower spike unless it is brown and dry. Can be grown either on a windowsill or under lights.

As these plants are from a seedling population, each one will be unique and different—no two plants will be alike. A must have for any modern novelty Phal collection. This cross has a high “wow factor”.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture is for illustration purposes only. No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
