Leptotes. bicolor ( 4N ) (" Wonderful ' x " Jumbo') , NF2291
Leptotes bicolor is a spectacular micro-miniature Brazilian species in the Cattleya alliance. These plants are the tetraploid form, so the plant contains twice the number of chromosomes resulting in husky growths and flowers that are larger and more flat than the regular form. ‘Wonderful’ and ‘Jumbo’ are two select clones chosen for their extraordinary flower size and form. This species is easy to grow and can tolerant of a wide range of temperatures from warm, intermediate, to cool (45°F min. to 98°F max.), favoring warm. Can be grown in a pot or mounted (for best results) under bright light and humid conditions. Water and fertilize regularly, let dry between watering. Can be grown outdoors year round in areas where summers are hot and winters are mild and frost free. Plants bloom in spring. These fragrant (vanilla scented) flowers have a firm substance and last a long time. Can be grown on a windowsill, under lights, or in an orchid cabinet.
