Eplc. Mae Bly 'Emy' GM/JOGA (Epi. mariae x Lc. Ann Follis) , MC82
The sensational Epilaeliocattleya (abbreviated Eplc.) Mae Bly ‘Emy’ is a cross between Epi. mariae (syn. Prosthechea mariae) and Lc. Ann Follis (syn. Cattleya Ann Follis). The clone ‘Emy’ was awarded the Gold Medal by the Japan Orchid Growers Association.
Large, 5-6 inch, fragrant, flowers have green petals and a prominent deep burgundy lip with cream highlights. The 2-3 flowers per spike last about 3 weeks and have a delicious citrus scent. It blooms during the spring and summer and mature plants can carry up to 6 flowers per spike will and will often flower twice a year. Plants are compact and robust for the type, and the large flower shows influence from Lc. Ann Follis, which is a parent of Blc. Mem. Helen Brown. This is a classic made by my mentor Mr. Ernest Hetherington. Eplc. Mae Bly 'Emy' GM/JOGA is easy to grow and bloom. It can be grown on a bright windowsill or under lights. Note: Eplc. Mae Bly 'Emy' GM/JOGA is also known as Cattleychea Mae Bly 'Emy' GM/JOGA due to the reclassification of species in its ancestry (Epi. mariae to Prosthechea mariae and Laelia purpurata to Cattleya purpurata). Very highly recommended!
