Den. shixingense , NF1708
This charming species is found in Shixing County in Guangdong Province, China. Clusters of delicate, soft pink, 2½ to 2¾ inch flowers are borne toward the end of leafed or leafless, thin pendant canes during Winter-Spring months. The attractive foliage has a light purplish cast. It will turn yellow and drop in the fall (this is normal). Den. shixingense likes bright light, warm temperatures, high humidity, and good air circulation. Water and fertilize regularly during active growth. Give a cooler, drier winter rest to promote blooming in Spring. Due to the pendant nature of the plants, they are not suitable for pot culture and are best mounted. As leafless canes will continue to bloom, do not cut them off unless it is brown and dry. These compact plants can be grown on a windowsill or under lights.
