Den. albosanguineum is found in Myanmar and Thailand. They usually grow high up in the canopy of tall trees at elevations of 1,000 to 2,000 feet. It is a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing, epiphytic species that blooms in the spring on a short, 2 to 7 flowered raceme with fragrant, fleshy, long-lived flowers that arise from the upper nodes of mature leafed and leafless canes and needs a cool, semi-dry winter rest. The distinctive flowers are 2-3 inches wide, creamy white to pale yellow. The creamy lip has blood-red or maroon spots on each side. Den. albosanguineum is a rare species that is threatened with extinction due to forest destruction and excessive collection.

Den. albosanguineum requires fast drying, they grow best mounted. When growing in a pot, it should be grown tightly in small pots filled with very loose, quick draining media. They require good air circulation, high humidity, regular fertilizing, and daily watering during the growing season (from late spring to autumn). When new growths reach maturity in autumn, stop fertilizer and watering should be gradually reduced. In the winter, give night time temperature of 60-65°F and reduce frequency of watering. The substrate must dry between watering, but do not stay dry for a long time. Resume regular watering and fertilizer when new growths appear in spring. Note: It is normal for leaves of mature canes to turn yellow and drop in autumn. A charming species that is worthwhile in any collection.
